The Japan-America Society of the State of Washington has been serving members and the community by promoting education, cultural understanding and friendship between the people of Washington State and Japan for almost 100 years. Every year we provide events such as our Empowering Women Series, business round tables and networking events. Our education program, Japan In Schools, has reached over 70,000 students in its 25 year history. Every year volunteers and staff visit 100 classrooms in the region.
We, like everyone else, are working hard to adapt to the current COVID-19 situation so that we may continue to provide events and education to the community. We are developing virtual events and classroom visits, in addition to online resources for teachers and students. These are resources we believe will strengthen our program’s scope and reach, not just during the crisis, but as a permanent part of our Japan In Schools program.
We know that these are difficult times for everyone and our Society is no exception. If you are able to, we hope you will consider contributing to us during the 2020 GiveBig Washington Fundraiser through May 6th. Your contribution will help us continue to provide the education and culture programs for our members and to our community.
Don’t forget to check to see whether your company offers corporate matching. This is a great way to make your contribution even more meaningful!
