Tay Yoshitani, 2016-2017 Chair, recently retired from the Board of Port Blakely, a Seattle-based renewable forest products company, family owned for five generations. In honor of his work as the Chair of the Society, Port Blakely will be donating $5,000 towards America in the Schools, to increase understanding between the youth of our countries.
Port Blakely commissioned Andrea Sigo, a renowned Coast Salish artist and member of the Squaxin Island Tribe, to create a ceremonial paddle that reflected Tay’s dedication to promoting trade and the global economy. His paddle is a unique combination of Maori and Northwest design to represent his work to bridge both cultures and markets.
Our sincerest thanks to Port Blakely and Tay Yoshitani.
