Tokyo Groove Jyoshi is coming to the US for two shows at Terry’s Kitchen in Bellevue to help raise money for the Seattle Betsuin Temple Arson Restoration Fund: Friday night Sept 5, and combined with a Seattle Seahawks Watch Party on Sunday afternoon Sept 7.
TGJ is a world renowned jazz/funk/groove band from Japan and tours extensively in Asia, playing in a music festival in China just before the Terry’s Kitchen gigs, and at the Singapore Formula One Race (along with Elton John and Foo Fighters among others) just after. The band members are Emi Kanazashi (keyboards/vocals), MiMi Kawakami (drums/vocals) and Rina Hoshino (bass/vocals). They will be joined by local musicians Jeff Chin (sax) and Leonard Berman (guitar) as guest artists on some of the songs.
