We would like to welcome Yotsuba Gakuin as a patron sponsor of America in the Schools! 学校紹介アメリカのワシントン州シアトル近郊のベルビュー市にて、海外子女の日本語教育のために、2012年秋、四つ葉学院を開校致しました。子ども達は、平日の放課後と土曜日に、国語、算数、理科などの主要教科を学んでいます。授業では、日本国内用教科書を用い、学習指導要領に掲げられた基礎学力の習得を目指しています。日本への帰国を前提とし、日本国内の学校に編入した際にスムーズに適応できることを目的として当校に通う子ども達や、現地校で学ぶことのできない日本の国語や、算数、理科の学力を身につけることを目指す子ども達も多く在籍しています。生活の大部分をアメリカの文化と言語が占める環境の中にいる子ども達が、放課後や週末の限られた時間に、効果的に日本語と主要教科の基礎学力を身につけ、日本的な学習習慣や学校文化を学ぶことができるよう、個々に応じた年間カリキュラムを組んでいます。グローバル化の中でこれからの世界に必要とされるのは、語学力だけでなく、海外経験で培った国際的な知識と教養を持ち合わせた人材です。四つ葉学院は、未来を担う子ども達の人間形成を育み、国際社会のリーダー及び社会に貢献できる人材の育成を目的として設立されました。
