Tomodachi Exchange Program
July 6th-14th, 2015
Are you currently studying Japanese in school and dream of one day going to Japan? Do you want to experience Japanese daily life by living with a host family, visit Japanese high schools, and make an impact through cultural exchange and volunteer work?
Apply to our Tomodachi Exchange Program!
As part of a reciprocal exchange program, 8 Washington high school students will have the chance to be cultural ambassadors to Japan, volunteering in the Tohoku region. Students will learn about leadership, disaster preparedness, and crisis management as they visit the people and areas affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami.
To facilitate this educational and cultural outreach experience, a grant from the U.S. and Japanese governments, and the U.S.-Japan Council, will cover expenses such as airfare, meals and accommodations for chosen students.
To apply, you must currently be enrolled in a Washington State high school and Japanese Language program, and be between 15 and 18 years old at the time of the program.
Deadline for applications is February 16, 2015.
