We thank all who participated in the 2023 JASSW Centennial Gala, held on November 28, at the Westin Hotel, Seattle.
Attended by about 360 (45 tables of eight), the gala was the last of the Society’s 100th-year commemorative events, which began with a January 2023 seminar on Eiichi Shibusawa, the father of Japanese capitalism.
Highlights of the evening included presentation of the Lily McMahon Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award to Lisa Marie d’Aquila, an inspiring speech by Lacey Ott —a fourth-grade teacher who has hosted Japan-In-a-Suitcase (JIS) educational school visits by d’Aquila for many years — and raise-the-paddle fundraising that will carry the Society through much of 2024.
If you missed the gala, a more complete write-up of it will be available in the “North American Post” (napost.com, January 1, 2024 issue). Alternatively, you can just catch up with us at our January seminar, “The Future of Clean Energy, The U.S.-Japan Cooperation on Nuclear Fusion Energy.”
Many thanks for joining us Tuesday evening, and cheers to another 100 years!
We have also shared our 2023-2024 event recap on our YouTube Channel here.
Warm Regards,
JASSW
