Congratulations to our former 2006-2007 Chair, Tom Sasaki, for being awarded the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette! This award is given to those who have made significant contributions to promoting friendly relations between Japan and the US. Tom Sasaki has been a huge presence in our state, not just serving as the Society Chair, but also as the president of the Nikkei-jin-kai (Japanese Community Service of Seattle)! Even now, although he is back in Japan, he still contributes quite a bit to our Society’s events and programming, and is currently part of the planning committee for our big Centennial Celebration in 2023!

Congratulations Tom-san for a well-deserved award and we look forward to working with you from now on as well!
