ACT for Japan

HOST FAMILIES

JASSW is looking for between five and ten host families to house eight Japanese university students and their chaperones from Fukushima who are participating in the Tomodachi/Najas — Grassroots Exchange Program 2014.

Dates: Sept. 10 – Sept. 14 (four nights, five days)

The group of students comprises of six boys and two girls, as well as two chaperones. Host families can house more than one student if they have room. There will be a $150 stipend per student for host families.

If you are interested in hosting a student, please contact aolson@jassw.org.

About the Tomodachi Initiative: This program offers students a chance to deepen cross-cultural sensitivity and respect by experiencing another culture firsthand, while at the same time supporting ongoing recovery efforts in Tohoku. In the first phase of the exchange, JASSW will bring Japanese students from Fukushima University to Seattle, and the next year low-income students from Seattle will visit Tohoku. On both trips, students will learn about JASSW’s “Shout Out to Japan!” events, participate in Japan/America in a Suitcase school visits, and tour businesses and fun sites the cities they are visiting. Our itinerary is jam-packed with exciting events for the Japanese students, including a Mariners game, tours to Microsoft and Boeing, visiting Seattle area school classrooms, and, of course, shopping and personal time with host families.

CORPORATE SPONSORS

We are also looking for corporate sponsors to partner with us in giving these students the experiences and memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. In gratitude for your generous support, your company will receive the following:

• Recognition in the event program and on our website
